Monthy Art Demos and Group Critiques

Art Demonstrations and a Group Art Critiques are held at Monroe Arts Cernter the 4th Tuesday of each month.  Come listen to a guest presenter at 1:00pm. Then share samples of your art with the group if you wish.  We follow positive and constructive critique guidlines.  All art forms are well recieved and there is no cost to attend and we are done by 3:00pm

Beginning Watercolor Workshop

Location: 1727 Church St., Freeport

Class Dates: April 19, 26, May 3, 10 17, 24, 31, June 7; Class Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Registration Deadline: April 12

Fee: $125

Instructor: Roger Goodspeed

Each session consists of a short lecture, a demonstration by the instructor, student exercises, creative time, and helpful critiques. Basics include subject selection, composition, color theory, and special watercolor tips and techniques. Printed handouts are provided each session to allow for catch-ups for missed sessions and to provide reference material for future use.  


The class, offered through the Highland College’s Life Education Program, will be held in the instructor’s Freeport studio.  Class size is limited to 10 students so register early. Roger is a member of the Driftless Area Artists of the Monroe Arts Center and the Momentum Art Guild of the Freeport Art Museum.

SAVE THE DATE! Adult Plein Air Workshop June 15 @ 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Seasons of the Sugar River — plein air workshop

Come explore the watershed at this one-day sketching, drawing, and painting workshop led by artists Jan Norsetter and Jonathan Wilde.


Jan and Jonathan will share their expertise as you capture the beauty of the Lower Sugar Watershed.


    The workshop will be held at the Southern Wisconsin        Land Conservancy’s scenic Three Waters Reserve. 


Participants should bring their own supplies (see registration form for a list) and a box lunch. All skill levels welcome. Jan and Jonathan will lead two separate demonstrations and provide individual instruction to participants throughout the day.


Please register early, as space is limited. Please register no later than Friday, May 24, 2019. The cost to the public is $100. SaturdayApril 27th at Monroe Arts Center from 9:30 to Noon, come to the WRAP workshop with this year's exhibit judge. (name TBA) $5.00 if not a WRAP exhibitor.   



A Mixed Media Event
