Saturday 1/13 - Deliver art to MAC for the LSRWA Fifth Annual Juried Art Exhibition and Fundraiser 2018 To be held January 26, 2018 - March 30, 2018 at the Monroe Arts Center

Friday 1/26 - Opening exhibit for the LSRWA Fifth Annual Juried Art Exhibition and Fundraiser 2018 January 26, 2018 tru March 30, 2018 in the Freiner Gallery at the Monrooe Arts Center in Monroe 5-7pm.

This is always one of the most highly attended show at MAC and is organized by DAA member, Jill Lazerchick-Sampson.

Saturday 1/20 -It's time to do art and to enjoy the company of other artists as we begin our DAA Winter Drawing Studios.1 -4pm There is no charge and no registration. Come at 1 pm or any time after.We will work in the second floor MAC classroom. There will also be studios on: February 10, March 17, April 21 & May 19th.

Friday 11/3 Pick up art from Monroe Clinic Show  - DAA members in the Monroe Clinic Show remember your art comes down on November 3rd.  Sign it out with the person at the clinic desk.  Do not just take it off the wall and walk out. It must be accounted for. Thank You all for your beautiful art.

Friday 10/6 tru 10/26 - A Lifetime Journey Exhibition by Artist Mark Kossiba.  The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is pleased to announce their October show will feature the works of renowned artist Marek Kossiba. The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is located at 520 E. Grand Avenue in downtown Beloit.  The gallery is open: Monday from 10 to 2, Tuesday-Friday from 10 to 5:30 and Saturday from 9 to noon.

Tuesday 10/17 Clay Glazing with Kathy King  from 6 to 8 pm, we will glaze our clay creations and ready then for the kiln.  The cost again is $5 for materials and kiln time.

Saturday 10/21 -Art Shed Time with the Driftless Area Artists at The mcGowans Art Shed at N6886 County N - Monticello, WI 4pm - 6pm. Bring your art supplies and stop out to work on whatever current art project you have going, or start something new. located about a half mile north of the intersection of County C and County N, I’ll have a sign on the fire number post to make it easy to find all DAA members are welcome to attend.

(Everyone is expected to make it to this meeting/party/potluck, get togher. because this is where you get a say in what our group does, meet other DAA members, share your art endevors, have some fun, eat great food and vote on officers and appoint Members of the Board.  Your input is vital to keeping our group fresh and vital.  All members are asked to RSVP either way, coming or not and as to what you are bringing for the potluck. Saturday 8/19 - 8am -noon- PLEIN AIR ART at Lynn Paron farm at W6382 Legler Valley Road, New Glarus, 53574  PLEIN AIR ART - Lynn Paron has generously opened her New Glarus area farm up to the Driftless Area Artists for a plein air art sessions  August 19. Bring your brushes, pencils, pastels, cameras and join fellow DAA members and Lynn for a morning of art on the farm. Bring snacks and drinks, bug spray and muck boots too. Come out and enjoy the day! (At Lynn’s request, please make snacks vegetarian friendly – no meat - but cheese, crackers, chips, dips, veggies, fruit, desserts, etc.. are all welcome).

July 2017

Saturday 7/1 - DAA Members Only If you are involved in the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator show today is the day to deliver your Art to the Blackhawk Tech Parking lot in Monroe at 9am. Kathleen will have the truck ready. Your art must be wrapped for hauling, with your name, tile, medium and price clearly marked on the back of each artwork.

 

Friday 7/7 tru 8/5 5pm -8pm Exhibit Opening for the  Driftless Area Artists Gallery Show at the (BFAI) Beloit Fine Art Incubator. Come see the fine art works of 20 DAA members at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is located at 520 E. Grand Avenue, Beloit.  The Gallery is open Monday from 10 am to 2 pm, Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 5:30 and Saturday from 10am  to 3 pm.  show runs until July 28,2017.

 

Sunday 7/16 -  Roundtree Gallery's Farewell Reception 1-4 pm at the Roundtree Gallery - 385 East Main Street.in Platville, WI.  They have lost their building so this really will be the final farewell to the Roundtree Gallery as we know it. They will be moving to the Plattville Public Library until they find a permanent gallery building. We will miss them!

Saturday,  6/ 3, 2017 from 9 am to 4pm - LSRWSA's Adult Plein Air Workshop - led by Jan Norsetter and Jonathan Wilde.Seasons of the Sugar River - Nature of Water Workshop at the Belleville Community Park (shelter #3), in Belleville,  WI  Jan & Jonathan will share their expertise as you capture the beauty of the Lower Sugar River Watershed.  All works created as a result of this workshop are automatically juried into The Seasons of the Sugar River - nature of water juried art show at the Monroe Arts Center. Participants will bring their own supplies (see the registration form for a list) and a box lunch. Please register no later than Friday, May 26, 2017.  Cost is $75 for the general public, or $60 for MAC, and LSRWA members. For more info & forms click here or visit the LSRWSA website

Saturday, 6/10, 2017 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm - WRAP Artist Workshop Day at MAC -  A demonstration or lecture, judging, and critique by a guest artist Jon Wilde will be the focus of the artist workshop day held on Saturday, June 10 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. This event is co-sponsored by the Monroe Arts Center and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts.

Friday, 4/7, - Friday, June 9,  5-7pm Opening Reception for the 2017 Wisconsin Regional Arts Program Competition and Exhibit at the Monroe Arts Center.  For the 30th consecutive year, the Monroe Arts Center will host the Wisconsin Regional Arts Program (WRAP) Competition. All artwork entered in this competition will be on exhibit in Monroe Arts Center's Frehner Gallery from April 7 through June 9, 2017.

March 1-28, DAA will fill the display case at the New Glarus Public Library with Driftless Area Artists Artwork. Come see & enjoy the Art Exhibit throughtout the month of March. There will be a Meet & Greet held on Friday, March 24, 4-7pm in the Community Room behind the library. The Driftless Area Artists will be on hand, Art will be offered for sale, refreshments will be served. Hands on art projects for kids of all ages, art will be happening, there will be fun for all. Everyone is invited, young and old alike. Come "Express Yourself" at the New Glarus Public Library   with the Driftless Area Artists.

11/10 - DAA Handmade Greeting Cards Event -The Driftless Area Artists are hosting an art activity at the Monroe Art Center at 6:00pm,Thursday evening, November 10th.  Participants are asked to bring any tools and materials they may have or would like to use, to make original greeting cards. (we should have many supplies for everyone if you can't bring any not to worry.) Meet in the second floor classroom of MAC for this activity.  All members and friends of the arts are invited.  There is no fee, just fun.  Come Join Us!

11/10 - DAA Board Meeting -November 10th at 6:30 pm, The Driftless Area Artists Association Board of Directors will meet at the Monroe Art Center.  On the agenda will be finalizing a monthly activity for our 2017 Calendar. Also information on our shows at the Beloit Art Incubator and the New Glarus Library will be discussed.
All DAA  members are invited to attend and will be encouraged to add their ideas.  Bring a friend or fellow artist to learn more about the DAA.  Everyone who loves art is welcome to join our Artists Association. Click here to download your DAA membership application today.

11/11 thru 1/13/2016 - MAC Gallery Exhibition - "Cranial Cognitions in Clay" is a collection of work that comes from the hearts and heads of Monroe artist Kathy King, and Madison artist, Phil Lyons. Opening Reception: at the Monroe Art Centeris Friday, November 11, 2016. 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm , Gallery Talk: 5:30 pm.  Gallery exhibitions and opening receptions are free and open to the public.

11/11 -  13th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition Opening Reception at Freeport Art Museum located at 121 North Harlem Freeport, IL 61032  Exhibition dates are November 11, 2016 - February 18, 2017. The Regional Juried Exhibition displays a wide range of contemporary art and offers artists from Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin the opportunity to debut their latest work.  FAM welcomes renowned Chicago based artist Sergio Gomez, as this year’s juror.

11/19 - Ken Lonnquist with Dave Adler - Grand Opening of the Monroe Arts Centers'  Family and Kids Series. This is a one-hour FREE concert recommended for children pre-school through 5th grade.  This concert is FREE and open to the public. The show starts at 11am  at the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall-1315 11th Street, Monroe. 

11/19 - The Monroe Arts Center presents the April Verch Band who blends the traditions of North American roots music and exuberant step-dancing with her own artistic voice and vision in a feisty high-energy show that puts her award-winning fiddling and songwriting talents out front.  7:30 PM at the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall-1315 11th Street, Monroe. 10/15  - DAA Oct Art Event- Photos & Sketching in Belleville, WI. meet at 3:30 at Community Park in Belleville, WI, (on River St, or Hwy 69) at the boat landing by the ball fields.  Bring your cameras, sketching material etc. Bring your watercrafts if you wish to shoot or paint or draw from the water.  This area is part of the Lower Sugar River Watershed Area  for those artists who need a little insperation for the LSRWA show(details below calendar). For carpooling meet at Shopko Parking Lot, nearest 8th St.  by 3pm. We will pickup riders at the Tall Monticello Sign on Hwy 69 at Lake Montesian.  or Meet us in Belleville if you wish.   Return when all riders decide. 9/10 - FIRST ANNUAL ALL MEMBERSHIP POTLUCK AND MEETING.   Montroe Methodist Church, 22nd Avnue Monroe.  Gather berginning at 5:00 pm.  Pot Luck meal begins at 5:30 pm.  

9/22  -  Art Opening at the Monroe Clinic/Hospital Complex. 5:00pm Artist Talk  Group Exhibit of art on four floor of the clinic.  Audrey Hein and Deb Meyer of the DAA  are in this show.

9/16 - 9/18  - Green County Cheese Days  Arts and Crafts Show to be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The show is located on the grounds adjacent to the Monroe Middle School.  Several DAA Artists will have booths ot this show.

August 2016

8/1 - 8/28  Driftless Area Artists will display their artwork at the Monticello Public Library. in Monticello, WI. be sure to stop in to see all the beautiful art produced by our members.  Opening Reception is Friday July 29, at  630 pm. Come meet the artist and everyone is invited to attend!

8/8 -  Epic Campus Art Visit   Second Chance   Tour the fine art collection at the Verona WI Epic Center Campus.  Meet at 12:45 pm in the west end of the ShopKo parking lot in Monroe.  We will car pool to Verona. We need 8 people to get a guided tour.  Call Helen Stauffer with your interest.  (608 325-1903)  Bring friends.  We will perhaps have a dinner outside the campus as their cafeterias are for employees only.

8/15  Registration Deadline Art Journal Class

7/9 & 10 - Art Fair on the Square in downtown Madison WI Hours are: Saturday, July 9 (9 am–6 pm) & Sunday, July 10 (10 am–5 pm)

7/12- 6 pm  Summer Fun Party at Terry Tackett's - N3238 Rufenacht Road, Monroe, WI. Group Art Project BYOB, come ready to do some art! More details to come. All DAA Members are invited, bring you better half, fun for everyone.

7/20- Splash Watercolor Workshop with Deb

Meyer at the Monroe Arts Center.   Wednesday, July 20 / Time: 9:00 am-Noon / Fee: $40 per person (due upon registration) / All artist levels (age 18 and over) / CLASS SIZE LIMITED All supplies included / Where: Monroe Arts Center Upper Level Classroom.
